History

Alfresa Pharma Corporation

1920:
Nakashima Shigeru Shoten is founded as an importer and distributor of pharmaceuticals and medical devices in Manila, the Republic of Philippines.
1939:
Incorporates Osaka Office into Nakashima Shigeru Shoten.
1952:
Corporate name changes to Nippon Shoji Kaisha, Ltd.
1998:
Nippon Shoji and Showa Pharmaceuticals merge to form AZWELL Inc.
2003:
AZWELL Inc. and Fukujin Co., Ltd. establish Alfresa Holdings Corporation through stock transfer.
2004:
Alfresa Pharma Corporation is created.
2006:
Ibaraki Research Center, Okayama Plant, and Chiba Plant obtain the ISO13485:2003 certification.
2015:
Takes over the Akita Plant of Daiichi Sankyo Propharma Co., Ltd., and establishes Alfresa Fine Chemical Corporation.

1923:
Started business as a pharmaceuticals developer and manufacturer under the name of Sansho Co., Ltd.
1933:
The business expanded due to the success of the liver oil tablet, "Haliva."
1965:
started full-scale production of pharmaceuticals for Eisai Co., Ltd.
1968:
Became a subsidiary of Eisai Co., Ltd.
1986:
Eisai Co., Ltd. released the medicine for iron-deficiency, anemia, developed by ourself.
1989:
Acquired an authorization of contract manufacturing from Eisai Co., Ltd.
1996:
Transitioned into a large company under commercial law based on increased capital.
1997:
Started production of barrier-free medicines, marketed by Elmed Eisai Co., Ltd.
Acquired a manufacturing authorization of liquid-, ointment-, and cream-form medicines from Eisai Co., Ltd.
1998:
Relocated the headquarters to Serada-Cho, Ota City, Gunma (previously known as Ojima-machi, Nitta-gun).
1999:
Completed relocation of whole company to Serada-Cho, Ota City, Gunma.
Changed the corporate name to Sannova Co., Ltd.
2001:
Obtained the ISO 14001 certification.
2004:
Established new drainage treatment facilities.
2016:
Sannova Co., Ltd. became a wholly owned subsidiary of Alfresa Holdings Corporation.
2023:
Alfresa Pharma Corporation and Sannova Co., Ltd. merges their operations.
